Who wants to go into labor? Say it with me...NOT me!

Mckmama- Not Me Monday

As most of you know, I am 36 weeks pregnant. (36 weeks and 2 days. But who's counting? NOT me!)

So technically, I am full-term. But I do NOT want to go into labor yet. No way. Of course I know that there is a reason that pregnancies are 40 weeks. And really, 37 weeks, at least, is a much healthier time to have a baby, especially a boy. So I do NOT want to go into labor. Nuh-uh.

No. Seriously, you guys. I mean, I am still waiting to borrow a bassinet from a very sweet and generous friend (Hi, Lindsay!), his nursery still needs finishing touches on it, and for goodness sakes, I have one last load of his laundry to do, and another to put away in his room. Don't be silly.

I am NOT going up to work this morning to set up my classroom, meet my new coworker, and my sub just in case my attempts at natural induction techniques this week work.

Er. I mean, natural induction techniques? What are those? Even if I had heard that spicy food, acupressure, herbs, and other...uh, personal techniques get the baby party started, I would not indulge in at least two a day, every day, starting last night. That is crazy talk. First of all, no one believes those old wives' tales and even if they did, I am only 36 weeks (and two days). Who actually does those? NOT me!

I do NOT have a few different days that I'd really like to go into labor. One of them is NOT this Wednesday. Of course, I want to sit through all those oh-so-exciting beginning of the school year meetings. And Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday night? I do NOT dread that. Of course I want to work an eleven-hour-day on Thursday, ending with being bubbly and cheery while I talk to all my students' parents....36 weeks and 5 days pregnant. Who wouldn't?

If I do end up sitting through meetings on Thursday and Friday without my water breaking some place embarrassing in the district, I do NOT want to go into labor a week from today. That would mean my baby would be born on my labor coach's 50th birthday. I do NOT think that would be awfully cool, especially since no one is throwing her a party. I do NOT envision a birthday cake with both her name and the baby's name on it.

You guys, please. I know this baby will come when he is supposed to come. Trying to plan the perfect day is ri-freakin-diculous. As someone who usually flies by the seat of her pants throughout life, I am NOT trying to control something that obviously cannot be controlled....NOT me!

MckMama, who had her own little man last week and certainly didn't see his birth going the way it did, invented this Not Me! blog carnival. Head on over, congratulate her on her gorgeous new son, and read what other people are NOT doing this week!

With this last pregnancy I was READY at 32 weeks. As in, didn't want to be preggers anymnore. Had SO MUCH false labor.

Had my baby shower at 35 weeks, finally nested at 36 weeks, and at almost 37 weeks her little self made an appearance.

At my 36 weeks appt I wasn't doing anything, and the doc was all "oh yeah, it'll be a few weeks yet", and two days later I went into labor.

Babies are weird. And I SOOO understand how you feel!

If this works, I'm going to die laughing. And then fly you out to stay with me during this part of my first pregnancy, because I might not need a labor coach, but I may need an inducing-labor coach:)

I can't wait to see Baby Namaste, hopefully he can help mama get out of meetings....and I agree with Brittany, if your techniques work I might want you as my labor coach too.

Hooray you're so close. I hope one of these methods work, including you know what! Hahahahahahahaha!!

So funny!

If these techniques don't work, I'm going to ask Baby Namaste to stay cookin' until August 25th. Then, he'll be born on my birthday, lol :)

I did NOT watch Dr Oz the other day and he did NOT say that sex is the best best thing for baby inducing. So I do NOT think you and B should get busyyyyyyyyyyy.

I was reading this and totally forgot about the "not me" monday part. So I was trying to understand and then I remembered! Yeah, I'm an idiot!

I am with you....that 36th week is so close to being "full term" that you just want it to end already!!!!
I hear sex is the best for inducing...never tried it though!

There does get to be a point that remaining pregnant is just horrible. Hopefully all those um...techniques..work and baby boy will be on his way. When he's ready, of course.

You will have him soon enough! But I would want to get out of school meeting too!

Planning the perfect day is perfecting reasonable and sometimes it really does happen!
I told my husband MONTHS before my first was due that I wanted to have her on the Wednesday of opening weekend of March Madness. I am a basketball junkie and nothing seemed more perfect to me than spending three days in a bed doing nothing but watching every basketball game I could get my hands on. Wednesday morning about 2:00am my water broke and Sam was born in the middle of the Duke game. Okay it would have been more perfect if she would have been born during half time but I guess I can complain too much! I only had to yell at one nurse not to stand in the way of the TV during labor and other than that my perfect day came true!
So think hard enough about what you do want and maybe it will come true!

I have no idea what it feels like to be 36 weeks and 2 days pregnant, but from what I've observed in my friends, it does not look comfortable. At all.

Here's hoping things happen fast and you don't have to wait all the way to week 40!!
