"The zoo is a place for animals to study the behavior of human beings." -Anonymous

This weekend, it was unseasonably, close-to-record-breaking warm here. We, along with thousands of other Saint Louisans, decided it would be a great time to hit up the zoo.

It was nice to visit the zoo without having to push a stroller for the first time ever.

L's BFF (and the son of my BFF) came with us. They seemed to get more enjoyment out of the fake animals, but hey...it made for lots of cute photo opps.

We saw penguins ...

And tigers....

And bears, oh my!

(In case you were wondering, no, I did not get a good shot of the lions for my Wizard of Oz reference. But the penguins were cuter and more entertaining anyway. In fact, L waddled like a penguin all night when we got home. So who needs lions anyway? Ahem.)

Although L did not in any way, shape, or form, inherit my love for creepie crawlies, he was enamored with this cute snake. Apparently, the feeling was mutual.

B had lots of opportunities to have Very Important Discussions about Very Important Animal Information with L.

And I had lots of opportunities for Very Important cuddles, tickles, and giggles.

As we drove away, exhausted after walking the hilly terrain for two hours, L remarked, "That was so fun, going to the zoo with my best friend!"

My thoughts, exactly.
